SRTE Goldtails are primarily used for descending, however an increasing number of Emergency Service Personnel are using them in Hauling Systems for belaying while the sporting users are using tube tape to rappel on, in canyons, etc, as 100m of tube tape is lighter to carry than 100m of 9mm rope. SRTE Goldtails can use single or double rope up to 13mm.Friction on the SRTE Goldtails is controlled by winding the rope through the appropriate number of slots. Friction can be varied while rappelling by increasing or decreasing the number of slots the rope goes through. For added protection all slots have gates to prevent the rope from coming out accidentally. The wide rounded bars enable operators to wrap the rope 360° around them, alternatively 25mm Tubular Webbing may be used. The SRTE Goldtail incorporates massive heat sink, any heat generated from descending is channelled away from the bars and dispersed into the spine - ideal for extra long descents.
